Many students think that writing argumentative essay means just stating individual opinion on a certain problem. However, this type of essay requires special skills and abilities. Its purpose is to present arguments logically without imposing them on the reader. So, what should a student do to produce an outstanding argumentative essay? What approach should he/she apply and what skills should he/she use? Find the answers in this article. Gathering evidence Provided that a student has found a topic to dwell on, he/she should take a side to defend. He/she must either agree or disagree with some points. When he/she has decided which side to take, they should find evidence to support their viewpoint. It is essential to think it over before setting out to write. It is helpful to make use of reliable citations; resort to statistics data or some research findings to prove the viewpoint. 4. It is useful to research the arguments of the opposite side.
